The Bible Study Group
When Bonge Gumede first began this Bible study group, this was the one thing she never ever planned to do or imagined for her journey - it was simply obedience. What started as a simple act of obedience to God quickly became her most important work, one that has forever transformed her life and the lives of countless others. This scripture-led Bible study began because Bonge saw a gap in the online community—a need for studying the Bible in its purest, simplest form. In a world where so many voices compete for attention, she wanted to create a space where the Word of God, which is “given by inspiration of God, and profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16), could speak for itself.
Bonge Gumede’s journey as an "influencer" took on a new dimension when she realized the profound responsibility that comes with influence in the eyes of God. While she has built a substantial platform, Bonge quickly understood that God wanted her to use her influence for more than just promoting products or growing followers. Her mission became clear: to guide people toward receiving the most precious treasure of all—Christ Himself.
In a world where influence is often fleeting and focused on material things, Bonge’s heart is set on something far greater. John 6:35 reminds us that Jesus is the “bread of life,” and only in Him can we find true satisfaction. As she leads her Bible study group, Bonge teaches that the things we often influence one another to chase—whether fame, money, or possessions—are temporary and cannot fulfill the deep need we all have for Christ. She emphasizes that while the world may celebrate numbers and popularity, what matters most to God is how we use our influence to glorify Him and draw others to His truth.
In Matthew 12:36, Jesus says, “But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.” —what we say, teach, and promote will be accounted for before God. The Bible study group, therefore, is about spreading the Word of God, preparing hearts for His return, and helping others receive the life that only Christ can give.
The Bible study is led by this truth, with the aim of guiding others to seek the eternal rather than the temporary, to treasure the things of God above all else. It is a space where real struggles are discussed, but always through the lens of scripture, with the Holy Spirit leading the way. For Bonge, the importance of influence is not in how many people follow, but in how many lives are transformed by receiving Christ as their ultimate treasure.
The Bible study has grown beyond anything Bonge ever envisioned. What began as a small group quickly turned into three WhatsApp groups, totaling over 3,000 people from all around the world in less than a year, proving the need for the Lord's truth in our community. Eventually, the group moved to Discord, where it now serves as a home for this global community to gather under one umbrella, united by a shared desire to know God more deeply through His Word.
Romans 15:4, “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us,” and it is vital for Christians to study scripture for themselves, to read and understand God’s Word firsthand.
This Bible study isn’t just about learning; it’s about community and accountability. Participants gather to openly discuss topics that aren’t always spoken about in church or public spaces—real-life struggles like dealing with procrastination, sex, masturbation, and other personal battles. We are all wrestling with the same sins, and she emphasis the need to not conceal it, but expose it. Together, the group confronts these issues, leaning on scripture for answers and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide them through the challenges.
This group has become more than just a weekly meeting—it is a testament to God’s work and His handwriting from start to finish. Through scripture, prayer, and the power of family, we find strength and healing, growing closer to God and each other. Bonge remains in awe of what God has done through this Bible study, a space that started out of her curiosity on the lack on scripture-led teachings, which led to her obedience and is now a living testimony to the transformative power of Christ in the lives of thousands.
She believes we do not need more 'self-care', we need God.
The Coming of Christ Is Near.
